Questions about wireless router signals (dangerous or not?)?
My Linksys Wireless-G 2.4ghz router sits on the floor of my room in the corner. My head is in the adjacent corner only about 5 or 6 feet away, but a foot or two more elevated.
My question is: Is this dangerous like they say cell phone radiation is, or is it safe to keep it on at all times? I have no security settings like a WEP or WAP and cannot change any settings because I do not have the password (I got the router used and the original owner forgot the password…). I’m not really worried about hackers though.
What I am worried about is the harmful radiation that could be emanating from the router (and are the 2 alarm clock/radios I have dangerous even when they aren’t searching for wireless signals?)
I suppose I COULD switch everything to wired but that’ll be more expensive and a lot less convenient. Not to mention a lot of work rewiring my entire setup…
So what do you recommend? I need professional opinions please… Is this as dangerous as a cell phone is…? =
No you shouldn’t worry. The energy of the EM waves are not that high to cause harm.
They are two types of radiation: Ionizing and Non-Ionizing…
Ionizing damages the body by damaging DNA by ionization or creating free radical reations.
Non-Ionizing radiation damages the body by heating/burning it. Wireless routers and cell phones are non-ionizing and their fields are so weak and small. You would need hell of alot to have any heating effect whatsoever.

Security Cameras – The Scoop On Wireless Security Cameras
Security Cameras: – Wireless Security Cameras 101
Technology is racing forward so quickly that even the technophiles are getting lost in the dust of progress in security cameras. Not that many years ago, a hidden video camera wasn’t really easy to hide because they were so bulky and unreliable. Now, almost anybody can afford one that is tough as nails, reliable as the sun’s coming up and cheap. To get tons more free expert information, click here: Security Cameras
Its tough enough these days making a living if you have your own business. Employee theft can sometimes be enough to close a business down that has taken years to build. A hidden video camera can, in hours, sometimes show where all the losses are coming from. One man I know owned a liquor store and was losing a substantial amount of inventory.
Try as he might he couldn’t nail down who was stealing and how. One day, he caught the janitor taking stock out of the back door in a garbage bag. If he had a hidden security camera in the exit sign above the door, he would of saved himself much aggravation and many hundred of dollars in losses.
The hidden security cameras that are mentioned above use a device called an sv card. What this means is that these devices are not only wireless, but they don’t need a central receiver. The videos are stored on the machine itself. Whenever you want, you take the camera to your computer or bring a laptop to it, download the images and you can examine the evidence at your leisure.
Simple, cheap and extremely effective. What’s really neat is that many of these cameras have motion sensors built in so that they will only record when they sense movement. You can even adjust the field of view so that critters or little kids won’t trigger the camera.
These are just two examples of hidden video cameras and what they can do.
Probably the greatest feature of these devices is that you don’t have to worry about placing them where a radio signal can get through to a central receiver of some sort. Locate it, hide it, plug and play. Kids and pets can be programmed out.
The imagination runs wild at the prospects of where to hide them, doesn’t it? How about in wall clocks, Alarm Clocks, exit signs, light fixtures, coffee makers, water coolers or candy bar displays?
Warning! These cameras have nothing to do with preventing crime. The best they can do is gather evidence. To stop crime, you want highly visible video cameras and that will be the subject of another article.
