Were to get a duplicate car key made?
I go down to the official Honda Service center and they want
$200 for alarm key or $145 plain key. I think this is outrageous. Can anybody else duplicate a key beside the official car company scrooges? comments/suggestions/critisms would be helpful.
If you have a late model Honda, then you will have to get the key made at the dealership. They have a programmable chip inside and need to be cut for your specific car. In the back of your owners manual, there might be a guide for how to program the key yourself, however you will need 2 already programmed keys, in addition to the one the service department made.
Honda parts can be expensive, as Ford would charge about $80 total and only $25 if you want to program it yourself. Good luck and I hope this helps. It’s always best to have a 3rd key because it’s cheaper to have 1 made if you already have 2.
