How can I pass AC plug electricity to an alarm that work when someone calls to my home phone?
Right now I dont have home phone I just have cell phone, computer and internet. I am not thinking in paying any kind of weaking up service. My cell phone has an alarm but it isnt enough. I have a timer that can be conected to an AC plug. Basicly I need a converter from AC electricity to phone electricity, where I can find it and what is it name.
what are you tring to do? make your AC timer ring a phone as an Alarm Clock??
ringing current for a telephone is aprox 90-100VAC, US house current is aprox 110-120VAC, however telephone ringing current is less then 1 amp, while house current is on average 15 amps per circuit….
“on hook” telephone voltage aprox 48VDC
“off hook” (talk) telephone voltage aprox 12VDC
(to use a telephone circuit as an intercom, all that is needed is either a 9V battery, or a DC transformer..
I assume connecting the timer directly to the phone will allow it to ring, however as too many amps are being passed thru the phone, it will proballay damage the phone after the first time, and may cause an electrical shock to anyone touching the phone at that time…
you need to find a way to reduce the amps, or put a fuse inline before the current is applied to the telephone..
