Wireless Door Alarm – Knowing Which Unit is Right For Your Family

There are several benefits that a wireless door alarm can do for your home. It all starts with the question of whether or not you need a wireless security system for your home. But who does not need them these days? In a lot of cases, wireless alarms are more than just extra expenses. You will soon find that getting one can help a lot when it comes to keeping their home, property and family safe.

Alarm Uses

Basically, the primary function and purpose of an alarm is to alert the homeowners of anyone who goes in and out of their homes. This is helpful if you are monitoring the arrival of guests. These days though, door alarms are used for other more important purposes. They are often the best pieces of equipment to use if you are watching over small kids, children with special needs or elderly individuals with Alzheimers disease. A wireless door alarm can tell you if your charge is about to wander off outside the house.

Alarms can now also be incorporated into security systems. Putting units on the entrances to your home can help protect it from burglars and other intruders. Aside from traditional wood doors, you can also use these units for your windows and sliding glass doors. As security devices, you can choose to get pre set packages with these alarms included.

Mechanism

A wireless door alarm is not too complicated. A basic unit has two magnetic plates that are aligned when a door is closed. Once contact is broken, The Alarm can chime or beep loudly until it is disabled. The GE Indoor Magnetic Door Alarm and the Intermatic SP130B are examples of this basic mechanism.

Infrared, an alternative technology, may also be used. Alarms like the LD-40 Wireless Entry Alert Door Chime detect heat from the human body and will sound off as soon as someone is in range.

Not all alarms sound the same and not all make the same loud noise. Some can be programmed to give out only soft chimes while others can simply vibrate. Silent alarms are usually programmed to send signals to remote monitoring units. You can therefore determine the movement of people in your home even when there is no loud sound.

These wireless door alarms run on batteries. They are not hardwired into your houses wiring system. It is therefore important for you to make sure that the power packs of your alarms are in tip top shape.

System Component

Although wireless door alarms can stand alone as a security device, security is even maximized when incorporated into a security equipment. After all, alarms can malfunction or can be disabled. Aside from alarms, you may also consider getting motion sensors, cameras and smoke detectors. Non electronic items such as bars and bolts can also be thrown into your security package. Having a complete system that does not just rely on door alarms is the best way to providing the best protection to your family.

Now you know what a wireless door alarm can do for you. It is obvious that it is an important part of your home and family security system. It is about time you go through the various product options to find the perfect units for your home.
