1999 VW Jetta Problems?
Went to start the car and nothing happened. The lights work and everything on the dashboard lights up. Radio and sunroof also work. No sound when we try to start it up though. Also it has a digital display and it starts out on neutral and then switches to drive and stays there even though the car is in park. I don’t know if it is important but it does have an Alarm System. We already checked the major fuses do we need to check all of them? What could the problem be??
Would the starter just all of a sudden stop working? My sister bought the car a week ago and it was working fine. I know nothing about cars but it seems like there would be signs the starter was going bad.
you have a bad neutral safety switch. this switch will not allow starter to work without transmission being in park or neutral. this switch also operates the dash position indicator which is why the display is not reading correctly.
