Analog has long been transformed into digital format. The core of any car audio is the head unit. Application like turning the volume up and down, adding more bass etc. is controlled by the head unit or radio which is called the central processing equipment of the device.
Every manual sound adjustment is made by the driver through the head unit or radio. Behind the dash of the head unit, there are dozens of wires connected to speakers, antennae, power and so on.
The head unit also consists of other features like volume and bass control fade, 3D sound, bass boost, etc. Car stereo systems are required to operate efficiently in the small space of the interior of a car unlike the home stereo system, where one can avail a huge space. Thus, when installing a new system, one must take full thoughtfulness of accessibility of power requirements, heat, cosmetic design, space, and aesthetics.
Car stereo comes with electronic devices like an amplifier which is the high power device converting sound signals into high power speaker driving current.
Amplifiers are hidden well away from view, perhaps in the trunk of the car in some modern systems. They can easily get hot so they are often equipped with heat sinks, fans and should be installed in a somewhat ventilated location.
