Where can I get spare response burglar alarm S400 control box?
UK. I bought a rather expensive burglar alarm about 4 years ago (Response s400) after they told me it would last 10 to 15 years whereas a cheap alarm would only last 5. Well this piece of junk has broken after 4 and now they are obsolete so I can’t get a spare. Anyone know where I can get a new control box for Response s400 alarm? I think they were also known as friedland.
PS don’t buy an alarm from wireless alarms. Just buy a cheap one from B&Q – either way it will last only 3 years.

Components Of A Wireless Burglar Alarm
When it comes to Wireless Burglar Alarms, you generally have two options to choose from: wired and wireless. While both systems have disadvantages of their own, a wireless burglar alarm is the way to go as it is much better and much more versatile than a wired burglar alarm.
The basic features
Your system can be as simple or as complex as you want, just like a hard-wired burglar alarm. It can be anything from a simple front-Door Alarm for your apartment or a very elaborate system that covers your entire house from room to room.
At its core every system contains the following basic elements:
- A control panel coupled with an electronic keypad.
- An electronic alarm or a siren.
- A telephone line connection.
- Panic button for emergency situations.
- Exterior doors and windows may have features such as switches or magnetic sensors.
Powerful and complex features for greater security
For even greater security one may make use of a system with even more advanced, and more complex and elaborate features. Such a complex security system may include things such as:
- Glass break sensors
These respond instantly to any sound of a glass or a door being broken.
- Motion sensors
These detect any individual moving inside the house.
- Exterior motion sensors
These detect any individual close to the exterior doors and windows of the house and instantly sound an alarm or turn on the lights.
Getting a system for your individual needs
While there are a lot of different Burglar Alarm Systems one may choose from, ranging from simple to elaborate and complex, the best way to ascertain which security system is the best for you is by consulting a home security professional.
